My Comic Con Schedule

I’ve added my signing times below. I’ll be signing three times during Comic Con. Sorry I forgot!

I’m headed to Leaky-Con tomorrow, and will be on panels all of YA Lit Day, also known as Wednesday. That schedule is right here. (It’s been sold out for ages.)

Next week, July 20-25, I’ll be at Comic Con in San Diego! (Also sold out.) For those of you coming, here’s what I’m doing:

Thursday, July 21
4:30-5:30 Comics for Teens— Comics creators Cecil Castelluci (Plain Janes), Hope Larson (Mercury), Nate Powell (Swallow Me Whole), and Gene Luen Yang (Level Up) come together for a discussion of what makes a comic fit a teen audience. Do books for teens have something special that books for kids and adults don’t have? Moderated by Scott Westerfeld (New York Times bestselling teen author). Room 26AB

Saturday, July 23
1:00 – 1:50 Saturday, July 23
Signing at the Mysterious Galaxy booth, #1119.

Sunday, July 24
11:15-12:15 Building the World of Leviathan, an Illustrated Steampunk Series— Bestselling YA author and Comic-Con special guest Scott Westerfeld (Uglies, Midnighters) discusses how illustrated adventure novels disappeared in the early 20th century and how he worked with artist Keith Thompson to create one for the 21st, Leviathan, a steampunk reimagining of WWI. Lots of visuals (and some secret news about Uglies). Room 6DE

Signing after Scott Westerfeld Spotlight
Smart Pop will be handing out free copies of Mind-Rain at this signing.
Comic-Con Autograph Area
AA18 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

2:45-3:45 High School Bites— Let’s face it: High school sucks enough without having to add a constant thirst for blood, going all furry under a full moon, or being hunted by all of the above. But for these YA authors, going back to high school was the best decision they ever made. Scott Westerfeld (The Uglies series), Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke and Bone), Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness), Debbie Viguie (Once Upon a Time series), Anna Carey (Eve), and Heather Brewer (The Vlad Tod series) discuss their characters’ formative years with moderator Maryelizabeth Hart of Mysterious Galaxy. Room 5AB

Signing after High School Bites
Comic-Con Autograph Area
AA3 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Also you might want to check this out:

Thursday, July 21
7:00-8:00 The Scoop at Simon & Schuster!— Get the inside word on Simon & Schuster’s upcoming books and the chance to win exclusive prizes! Lucille Rettino (marketing director), Elke Villa (senior marketing manager), Carolyn Swerdloff (associate marketing manager), and Anna McKean (publicity manager) give you the scoop on upcoming books from exciting authors, including Cassandra Clare, Scott Westerfeld, Orson Scott Card, and Becca Fitzpatrick. Hear what is going on with S&S’s hot properties — Star Trek and The Smurfs — and get a chance to win exclusive giveaways. All attendees will receive a limited edition T-shirt for Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Prince. Room 9

That’s it. I hope I get to see some of you while I’m on the road the next two weeks!

(I will be getting Fan Art Friday up this week, though, even if I’m not at home.)

  1. Haha first comment!!!!!!!!! I is dedicated 🙂
Yes finally Fan Art! I still want you to show us the missing word in the word cloud. Pretty please with a cherry on top?

  2. I really wanted to go to Leaky Con, but no one would drive/fly me (surprisingly). But have fun Scott!!! Hope you meet some people in Princess Leia slave outfits at Comi Con!!!!

And I’m super excited for Fan Art!!!!!!! I really want to know the missing word. Considering I rooted through the wordle archives for almost 3 hours looking for it. 😛

  3. Well I hope you have fun and great discussions. As always, I look forward to your updates. I really wish I could be there for July 24th.

  4. I also hope that everyone has fun at these discussions. I hope that there will be videos and pictures. (Lots of videos) I’m surprised that they are only one hour long. I figured that events like these would be longer.

  5. Unfortunately, I live (according to google maps) 965 miles away from Leaky-Con, and 2,712 miles away from Comic Con. OTHERWISE I WOULD TOTALLY BE THERE.

  6. I need to find out where this Mysterious Galaxy booth, #1119. is. My ticket is on Saturday -_-. hmmmmmmm

  7. Yes!! I’m going all four days! I’m definitely going to these panels. ^_^ I feel like a stalker, but I’m excited to meet you at Comic Con.

  8. I wanna gooo!!!! *whines* WUY U NO COME SOMEWHERE IN THE OHIO-ISH AREA?!?! TT.TT LIKE COLUMBUS?! I WOULD PACK UP MY GEEKS AND GO!!! Ok lol not really geeks but- wait a minute… IM THE ONLY EXTREMELY CRAZY LEVIATHAN FAN! WTF?!?!

  9. I swear I will someday come to Leaky Con! I swear it!!!! Sigh. Until then, Scott Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease come to Joshua Public Library in Texas! Come support us Texans!!!

  10. I’ll be at LeakyCon but not at Lit Day. 🙁 Will you be hanging out at the Harry Potter park as well, or flying straight to Comic Con right after Lit Day?

  11. I definitely read “signing times” as “singing times” at first. I was a little confused. XD

  12. Well good thing I have Thursday and Sunday passes then (and nothing else, stupid online ticket buying).

Thought it will be hard to make it to The Scoop panel, since it is right after another panel I want to go to, which is at the other end of the convention center.

  13. Huzah for Fan Art Friday!
Can’t go to ComicCon again…. too many good things happenning this summer to go to all of them! (HP premeire, Owl City tour…. ect.)
Ah well…. I shall be excitedly anticipating Fan Art! I’m gonna be at a family reunion Friday, and I will be bored out of my mind!

  14. People send you fan art? Has anyone else noticed the excruciatingly small smiley face at the bottom of the page? It’s at the very bottom… Below the copyright…

  15. I so want to go to one of these…. but I can’t. Sadface.

Oooh! Scott! I have a suggestion for Fanart Friday! Since a lot of people were disappointed with the fact you only chose one fanfic, maybe you can pick one fic to showcase along with all the normal artsy stuff.

  16. Wish I could go to Comic Con. Wait, what’s this? Secret news about Uglies????? Oooooh, now I REALLY wish I could go to Comic Con!

  17. If I had it my way, I would go to all of these cons. Unfortunately, my finantial situation doesn’t allow me to fly to California every few weeks or pay the fees envolved with the cons themselves.

  18. Um, it’s friday, and there was no fan art last week, so it’s fan art friday. What happened??? I see no fan art

  19. hey i see no fan art either! it is friday, is it not? Que pasa, Scott??

o and @Emik, i too see the little smiley face. its just a tad bit creepy. . . i feel that i am being watched.

  20. *Wishing I could attend* nothing ever happens in SC! I havent even seen the lizard man yet and ive lived here all my life! At least i can always count on fan art!
    @andi, definetely creepy…

  21. SCOTT-LAAAA…will you come to Gen-Con please? I dunno if you’re already going to be someplace other than Indianapolis, IN August 4-7 or whatever, but that would be freaking awesome!! *kitty-eyes face I only use when I want something*
((Eee, smilely-thingy!! Its name is Happy!))

  22. People from around the country think it’s disappointing missing out, imagining being from San Diego and missing out! So close, and yet so far.
