Extras Done

The first draft of Extras, the fourth book in the Uglies series, is done.

It came in at 86,771 words. That’s almost exactly the same as Uglies.

Now Justine and I head to Texas for the TLA Conference, plus an appearance in Austin!

    AYAWAAAAAAA. Just like something some ninja would scream at people =P Aya-la sounds more sophistacted, I think.

  19. Hmm, all i know is that Pirates 3 is comin’ along wid Spiderman 3 soon along w/ Twilight and i have a lot of books to read this summer! lol!

  34. Aya-wa, definately. I had to say it out loud to really hear the difference and it does sound better.
    I just found out today that there was going to be a fourth book. But I was reading in another website that the Uglies trilogy is still the Uglies trilogy. It’s just that the Extras book is going to be a start of another trilogy/series or something like that. If that’s true, I’m soooo happy. I’m like doing my research right now and now I know what it is sort of about. YAY!
    I can’t wait til’ the movie comes out and the new book comes out.
    Oh and by the way, is Aya like already a natural pretty or something? Because she looks pretty pretty to me already.

  36. leslie, one thig to say, how the hell do u not like uglies… you can tellthat scott put a LOT of feeling and thought into the series/trilogy and it mkes total since!! whats so confusing??

  38. idk peyton-la. i got so lost in the first book and all the characters didn’t make sense. but hey its all me not scott. hes a FANTASTIC author its just i dint get some of the books from the trilogy

  39. i got a bit confused but once i got into uglies i got familiar with all the poeple… i was realy confusedd about the hoverboards because i didnt realize it was set in the future lol

  40. I loved the other three books and was going to send you an email to request that you write more. I am so so happy you did. When do we get to read it?

  43. Aya-wa, Scott, Aya-wa. I’ve noticed in all the past books that there seems to be a flowing pattern for how the -la and -wa thing works. One syllable gets the -la. Two or more usually gets -wa.

    And since Aya has two syllables (Jeepers, Batman, Hope can count! xDD) it seems like -wa fits better.

    By the way–I still can’t wait until Extra comes out. I’m definitely preordering it soon.

  44. gabby=),I like that bit in specials too.Tally’s like”Hi,ping-la.”.Also I like the bit in Pretties where Tally says”Everything sucks,Shay-la.Why does everything suck?

    P.S I think Aya is pronounced with a short a and I like -wa better.

  45. I think Scott should write RUSTIES because we seem to be living at the end of the Pre-Rusties.I mean,we don’t stuff like taht nano goo that Shay sets on the Armory.

  46. yes, i agree, Aya-wa. Yes, it does sound like “Iowa”, but then again, what does “Kryssi-wa” sound like? Anyway, I am SO STOKED for EXTRAS!! I thought it was done once Specials came out. OMGoshness!!!

  47. Yeah, so pre-ordering Extras. Does anybody know when exactly it comes out?? And Scott usually writes about what Tally becomes in that particular book, (i.e., in Pretties, Tally is pretty, etc.) and how will Taklly become a Rusty??

    I’m SO excited for the Extras to come out! I don’t fully know how to pronounce Aya anyway… but I like Aya-la better, I like Las’ better then Was’. Can’t wait to read it! Congrats!

    I am so excited about this book! Cool cover, and I’m sure it’s gonna be an awesom read but . . . one problam . . . the Barnes and Noble website is telling me it comes out in October??? Your kidding me right?

  50. well i am not sure how you pronounce aya, but about the wa and la thing… i think that wa sounds better with more simple names like aya or my friend maria.. and for a name that is a little more to pronounce and doesnt have just symple sounds to say like my naem peyton i think it would be a la… so any way i think aya-wa sounds much better because it rolls off the tongue better to me
    well im finished i type to much lol
