    That video was pretty awesome. It kinda reminds me of the “True Beauty” adds by Dove, only better (the Dove ones kinda annoy me:P).

    Congratulations on the Inky:) Now go finish Leviathon! And give a little sneak preview perhaps;)

  11. Wicked skills Caitlin! Am I the only one that finds that really scary? Like the people in magazines that girls are stressing out trying to look like and harming themselves to do it might not even look remotely like their actual selves. With photoshop, *I* could be a model. Creepy…

  23. Photoshop has quite effectively distorted our perception of beauty. What happened to the days when beauty was not just based on the exterior? Oh, wait, that has never been. I just hope that one day someone will realize that this is wrong and take a stand against such atrocities. But we all know that it will never happen. Hollywood now has control of the world. It’s official.

  38. I am totally checking out all of the books (that I haven’t already read) on the Inkys Long List. I’m going to the library tomorrow and they have five of the books on the list. The rest are going on my Christmas wish list.

  53. HI PEOPLES! Sorry I haven’t been on in… months… I’m the kind of person that obbsesses over something for a while, sometimes a long time, and then stops. And then i pick it abck up again. And drop it again. And pick it up. And so on… Andrea-la is going to be a bubble-head when school starts. Seriously, she’s going to become normal. I tried to stop her, I really truly did. It just didn’t work… hopefully she’ll chicken out… She’s already been having second thoughts, and her school starts Sept. 3rd or so. Especially since she went to band camp. She’s been different, in a good way, since then. I’m saying this because she says as a RTS (Robot to Society… the people who know andrea well enough to care probably know all about that already…) she acn’t check author blogs, or read more than one book for fun a month. And I freaked when she said that and when she said she couldn’t talk to me on Gmail for more than like an hour a week after school starts… I tlaked her into replying to my emails and talking for a few hours more…

    Anywho, how are you guys? Did you miss me? Did ya, did ya, did ya?!

  61. Emily-wa: I’m like that too. I get this obsession, like one time i obsessed over having bagels with cinnamon cream cheese and then like a month later it tasted all nasty. and then i had my green olive phase. Yep, those were the days. But i actually still like green olives, i just don’t attack my mom for not buying them anymore. 😉

    I wonder what my obsession is now?

    Ok, well i had this wave of sadness this morning. My teacher is making everyone read in class and i know thats all exciting, i mean, reading time!! But then i thought? Well what if everyone decides they LOVE reading now. That would make me sad. I mean, think about it. If everyone read like crazy them no one would say to me, “OMG! Your a reading maniac!” And i love reading like crazy, its a talent. And if everyone has the same talent, im no longer special. You see? Like breathing. Everyone breathes so you dont tell people, “OMG! You breathe like crazy!” And they dont feel special if you do (they think your weird). Just thought id say that cause it made me sad. Im okay with knowing that i can talk to people that like reading as much as i do (like yall) i just dont want my whole school reading!

    I hope someone actually reads this. Cause i put my soul into this!

  66. nope. no news. still no directors or screen adapters. Scott-sama said in an interview (and i don’t remember where, but i know he said it) that he’s probably going to have to wait until his readers are old enough to produce the movie themselves.

  70. so guess what guys.. i took a softball… well it was one of the pitching machine balls.. to the head at practice. i was being tested catching pop flys in the outfield and they put them in a pitching machine and shoot them up in the air and you have to run and catch them and the sun got in my eyes and it hit me right in the temple. painful much. and so my coach called the trainer but he didn’t answer and so tomorrow i’ll probably have to go in and he’ll have to make sure i don’t have a concussion. but at least i didn’t faint or pass out or something. and i don’t have a headache so that’s a good sign too.

  71. Wow! I’m sorry, Kay-wa! That’s one reason why I don’t do sports other than soccer, and I don’t play goalie so I can avoid the flying balls. The only sports I currently do is Wii Sports, and that’s just every once in a while…

  72. Awesome photoshopping. I’m not very good at editing faces like that…mostly I just move people’s noses onto their foreheads, stuff like that.

Although, being technologically-challenged like moi, I didn’t know that photoshop was so affective that it could turn anyone into a Barbie doll. Also love the song, which I found out the title & artist when I found this video on Youtube :). Congrats on Leveianth, Scott-la!
    Bran-la: You have school ALREADY? Ouch. I get what you mean. As much as it shocks me when I hear how much some people despise reading (it’s like hearing that they get joy out of dead puppies), and as much as I looooove talking about books with fellow bibliophiles (such as 3 of my close friends and all of you fellow Scott-la minions, lol), I feel special for being so obsessive over reading. It makes me unique, and it’s something I’m really good yet. You don’t have to worry about everyone falling in love with reading all of a sudden. I had reading time, and most people spent it passing notes and doing last night’s homework before their next class.
    Kay-wa: One word: ouch. Just like Emily-wa said, it’s one of the many reasons that I don’t play a lot of sports. That, and lack of hand-eye coordination.

  77. so good news.. no concussion that we know about. i didn’t have to go see the trainer.. cuz lucky for me i have a thick skull and i still haven’t had a heachache. so it’s all good, i think.

    and nope, i don’t have a blog. lol.

  84. wasn’t there supposed to be a third “Eragon” book? Hm… i thought it was a good story, but the writing bordered on atrocious. he used big words, but they sounded strange and out-of-context, like christopher used a thesaurus way too much.

    if you combined harry potter, the chronicles of narnia, and star wars together, you’d get eragon. i mean, some of the scenes in the movie were *exactly the same* as star wars scenes.

    and the plot twist at the end of eldest? please…

  91. ughhhhhh….. so bad news… were pretty sure i have a concussion now. cuz on wednesday night i started to get a headache on the right side of my head (side i got hit on) when i layed down.. and then it was fine all day thursday until night and it hurt like crazy then. and this morning i had one from pretty much 8 till like 12 and that was the worst cuz i started to feel sick. almost like car sick. like when you feel like your gonna throw up and the world is kinda spinning around you. so then i went to practice today and afterwards i told my coaches and they called the trainer and said i have to go to the hospital tomorrow morning for a sports check-up. which is gonna suck. i hate hospitals. and they won’t let me play in the scrimmage tomorrow, which is like our last chance to show them our skills before they assign us to squads. and it’s also the parent meeting, and uniform checkout. and if i do have a concussion, which it’s pretty likely cuz i never got headaches before this and the whole feeling sick thing, then i’ll probably be out for a lot, if not all of the season. 🙁 i is sad. 🙁

  96. No prob, I remember how creeped out I was when I fainted (for no apparent reason, and at my friend’s birthday party!) and everyone scared the crap out of me with all these concussion stories until my parents picked me up.

  97. Hey people, former-PrettyMindedUgly here. Just found out it’s beyond similar to the web adress of Amy-la’s sight, so sorry for that, Amy-la. This is my new name on here until I think of something better, I guess.

  98. yeah i’ve had my fair share with witnessing head injuries… one of my best friends was in a tubing accident a couple of summers ago… and i was in the boat and watched the entire thing. we were going under a bridge too fast and on the walls under the bridge there were like these sharp metal things that go in and out and she flew into them cut her head open to the point that we could actually see her skull (not even kidding) and had blood everywhere. so we had to rush back to the lake house and call an ambulance and then she went to the hospital and we all were crying in the emergency room and then they life lighted her to another hospital in a city like 30 minutes from my little town and she was in ICU for weeks. she almost didn’t make it. it was horrible. definitely the worst thing i have ever gone through. and it was almost me.. we did rock paper scissors to see who would get to go and she won.

  99. Oh My gosh, that’s horrible! I’d totally have a panic attack. Wow…I REALLY hope you feel better Kay-wa! I didn’t think a concussion could put you out for all season??? I’ve had my fair share of concussions…(like I said before, I’m oh so totally accident prone) All I know is that when you first get it, you’re NOT supposed to go to sleep. Just trust me, it’s a BAD idea. It makes you feel all dizzy and sleepy and you think you just wanna close your eyes for a second, but no. It’s not good. NOT NOT NOT good. I can’t stress that enough. Just NO. Okay…you probably already knew that though…anways, get well soon and I hope everything with softball goes okay!

  105. thanks TZ! and when i got it on Tuesday i was fine (not at all sleepy or dizzy, lol so don’t worry i didn’t fall asleep. 🙂 ) but it’s just kept getting worse from then on. so i went to the doctor this morning and he said i have a concussion and that i can’t play until i’m symptom free for at least 48 hours and then i have to go see the trainer after that. so i’ll probably only be out half a week to a week.. inless i throw up… then they’ll have to do x-rays and all that icky stuff. so what did they do to you when you had your concussions.. and how sever were they?

    PrettyxMindedxRusty.. yes we could actually see her skull. it was disturbing… for awhile every time i closed my eyes after that i saw her smashing into the wall. and sorry that i made it hard for you to sleep.

  106. Well i don’t understand, because Extras has just been released in France, and on the end, they say that a fifth volume, called “secrets” will be out in november. I wanted to make sure. But i thought indeed if there was a 5th coming out in november in France, it should already be out in the US, but nothing. They must have made a mistake, not really nice;o)

  107. Yeah, the Guide is out soon but there isn’t a fifth one. Otherwise we would all be the first to know. Scott-la has been too busy writing Leviathan anyway!

  109. i start school the day after labor day–like, almost a week (well, five days–i think; i can’t think on vacation). it means that my summer vacation is longer, but it also means that i get out later….SIGH! w/e, tho. my neck hurts. idky. sigh. gtg and read eldest!

  110. Um, when I broke my nose I got a concussion and they had to do x-rays on my head! HeHe…I looked like a raccoon with two black eyes for like a month! It’s really funny, my Mom has pictures even though I begged her not to take any! It was a pretty severe concussion though too. And the other ones weren’t too bad, just headache-making.

Hey, kind of off-topic, but I didn’t get a chance to buy the Midnighters books before the covers were switched (I was out of a job at the time of the change), and I really don’t like the new version that’s out (it’s not a very high-quality paperback and I collect my books). Do you have any advice on where I could find an affordable version of the old copies?

  131. omg you guys i had the best night ever last night! i went to street fest last night and Smash Mouth was preforming, right? so there were 2 million people at the least. and me and my friend were right in the mosh pit area. i got to touch Steve Harwell’s hand (the lead singer) and the guitarists guitar. i was so hyped. there was this amazingly cute guy behind me ((and becuz it was so packed i had a reason to kinda lean into him)). except the bad things were i got beer splattered on me, someone kind of fell on me while attempting to crowd surf, and i kept getting pushed around and stuff. lol why i’m telling you this i have no idea, but i’m so hyped about it. so yeah…

    Audrey-Sensei: I love it! And I think it’s kind of what I needed, You see,really want to be a writer. I don’t need to be J.K. Rowling-big. Honestly when it comes to writing, my role model and ultimate fave is Scott-la (big shocker, huh? Lol.). But my mom gave my the whole “dream big, but realistically” (which is almost an oxymoron. What if I dream of flying, wings and all?)speach a week ago. Also, I have to ask, how *did* you get your story published on there? Do you send it in or something?

    Shan-la: you’re totally on. i’ll write a book with you, as long as it isn’t about vampires (because if i see one more vampire love story add, i will punch a baby). Speaking of which, November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short) so check out the website when the time roles around. It’s, like, 10,000 pages (they don’t have to be good) of writing in a month. i tried last year and failed miserably, but this time i’m going to do it!

I wanna be either a sound tech for a band, because c’mon, music=awsome(and Ive yet to find an instrument to be easy with my left-handed-ness or was something I liked, though I hope to try bass, so maybe it will work). Or I wanna be a cake decorater, because cake also = awsome. they’re all very different so Im open to different things.

  161. sooooo i couldn’t read the 30 new posts… 1. becasue i’m lazy, and 2. there is no way i have time. i’m SWAMPED with homework. 🙁 and i just got done with softball practice that i am required to go sit at even though i can’t practice… and they won’t let you do your homework either. it sucks.. i hate watching.

    PrettyxMindedxRusty… yes she’s doing great she’s still one of my best friends. she does have a really big scar that goes from a few inches into her hair line down through her eyebrow… and a couple metal plates in her head… that whenever we fly with her we always tease her that she’s gonna set off the alarm going through security! lol.

    so guess what… i’m so pumped about being on the student newspaper! we have this little pass, it’s called a “Journalism Press Pass” that gets me into all the sports games, and pretty much everything else for free! haha! and the magic pass lets us leave school in the middle of the day to go and drive around to businesses and sell ads in our paper. and we can go out to lunch! 🙂 and the other nice thing about it is that we can leave our journalism class and roam the halls looking for a story. can you tell i is excited? we just got them today and they’re awesome!

  163. Journalism would be cool, but I dont know if I could do it, not committed enough.
    My elective I’m tutoring kids in reading at an elemetary school near my school. I like kids most of the time, when they arnt tring to act older than they should be.

  164. Aw, that’s awesome! I used to work with the kidergarton and 1st grade and teach them how to read, taking time out of class for it and it was awesome! They’re so cute and most of them are sweet! Now someone replaced me since I’m so busy! *sniffs*

  174. yep yep it is pretty fawesome! today i went out selling ads and then went out to eat at Burger King. me n my partner had pretty much no clue what to do (cuz were both 1st year journalism students) and no one explained it to us so we were really confused. but it’s all good… cuz we sold the most! 😛

    and today at practice was better than yesterday. even though i still had to watch… coach had me doing stuff so i wasn’t so bored.

    i had a 1st grade buddy when i was in 5th grade. it pretty much rocked. we made green eggs and ham.

For some reason on wednesdays we start an hour late. We get to sleep in and all, but i dont get WHY. : / Of course, im not complaining about another hour of sleep.

  184. Hey our wednesdays we get out an hour earlier than usual. It so that teachers can plan and what-not. Well the high school and junior high do, the elementary school get half their day off n wed day….Those were the times.
    I still have another week til school, not until sep 3, we usually start later but labor day is the first, bleh

  190. i soooooo dont want an uglies movie. that would suck. its just they never get it right, like they cut stuff out and no one ever remembers the parts they cut out. then the characters never look right, and it totally ruins the book. people who watch the movie and then read the book will b all like “this book isnt right! tallly does NOT look like that!” and stuff and it ruins everything every time.
