  16. Scott…… isn’t City of Ashes the second, already-released book, and City of Glass the third? Not to be a know-it-all or anything, I was just wondering if I had been going about it all wrong.

    To anyone who wants to read them, they’re incredible. Think Midnighters meets Twilight and Harry Potter, plus a bit of Star-Wars-y romance. There’re vampires, werewolves, warlocks, faeries, and just about every kind of really awesome mythical creature invented. Muchly cool.

    Who else is on the PulseIT board? I was so mad when I found out I got GoldenGirl not City of Bones because City of Bones = officially one of my favorite books. And they are huge, so paperbacks are expensive and I was hoping to get it free.

    Hmm, Twilight-y? I’m not sure how I feel about that… Oh wait, yes I am. Blegh! 😛 I don’t want to read anything comparable to Twilight! But I do love Midnighters and Harry Potter, so I’ll probably still check it out if my library has it. 🙂

    so I am in my hs’ musical, Fiddler on the Roof… and the shows are coming up and now rehearsals until 9:45 pm… (so much of this musical is getting crumbly) so I’ve been rereading the Uglies tril… on Specials…. my fav! Notice new things even though this is the at least 6th time I am reading it… I believe more though….. &a million half and chapter reads. mhmm

    I really wish they’d get on inventing hoverboards… &flash tattoos!

  29. Oh wows, I just checked this and I just got home from Borders cuz I went to go get City of Glass! I’m on like chapter 3 now, and it’s amazing like the rest. Yays.

  31. OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!! Im going to texas!!! I WAS going to drive 16 hours to see CC in cali, but if YOU’RE going to be in texas WITH her, I HAVE TO COME!!!! I love love love LOVE the first. I havent gotten CoG yet cuz i dont have the money for it but i read thefirst two chapters cuz i couldnt help myself… Ugh!!! I need to go i need to go!!! I was in the middle of midnighters when i picked up her trilogy. I got it because of the cover lol. Same thing with the Uglies. Hopefully i’ll see you scott-la!!

  39. I was reading french Elle today at school (it was from last April) and there was a full page ad for Specials in it! In french! I was so excited!

    finishing up Specials…. every time I read it… well, I always get into books no matter how many times I reread the books… but it makes me cutter-brained, which is rather dangerous… but I almost don’t mind… it does fade until I reread it though… sorta

  43. Hahaha hey guys guess what? I looked it up on Google maps and it takes only 3 hrs and 19 min to get to that store Scott will be at from my house! And then I switched the mode to walking, and it would take me 2 days and 22 hours, that’s nearly 3 days, to walk there from my house! Hehe. See? I’ll just walk there if I have too. Lol. But seriously. Teusday? Cool, but I really am not sure if I can make it there on a weekday, man! It takes 3-5 hours, depending on traffic and stuff, to get there! Though… I’d have to leave by 3PM to make it… that means I’d miss the last part of 7th period and all of 8th period… which, hey! I could do that! But wait… When would I get back? Lets say I spend an hour in Houston. So we leave at 7:30-ish. Add 3 hours… I’d get back around 10-11. That’s actually not to late! If I sleep in the car, I could do that… Hey! I could actually make it there! I’m soo excited!!!

  53. Here in Texas, in Northside ISD, all High Schools start at 8:45 and end at 4:05. We have a lunch the leanth of a normal period, too, because half of the school is eating lunch and half of the school is in a class. If you get what I’m saying… Lol… we’re not in there for an unusually long time. It just starts later. We have like the usual 8 hour school however long it is… gotta go to school speakin of it so see ya!

    school schedules are so different across cities, not to mention states…
    anyway in response to the actual post now…i agree with whoever said come to california!!
    also i need to look up that series….
    and i’m writing something now that i’m actually proud of!! haven’t written basically anything for months now, it was driving me mad.

  58. I finished City of Glass. Took me 2 days cuz I had tons of projects and stuff and my Mom wouldn’t let me read it without finishing those…but it was AMAZING! Total total and incredible props to Cassandra Clare. And I have 8 periods NOT including lunch, but that’s because I take an A period so I can have an extra elective, which is Art. That means I start an hour earlier than everyone else at 7:00 instead of 8:00. And we get out at like 2:40.

  60. my school starts at 7:45 and ends at 2:18
    we do block scheduling, so four classes each day plus lunch
    it is not a good system, because it only allows for 6.5 credits a year if you want study hall
    while my old high school’s scheduling allowed for 7.5 credits a year if you wanted study hall
    give up study hall in either and you get another credit obviously… but it annoys me

  71. Dang!!!! Like, everyone gets out of school at like 2!! I don’t get out till 4:05, and classes start at 8:45! I see a problem with this. Well, Texas ROCKS when it comes to school standerds, so yeah. We’re smart. We have good hard TAKS (Not too hard, duh) and everything. Lol. And my school is only 10 min from my house. Northside ISD has like a jabillion schools everywhere, so like there’s a school even closer than that, like 5 min away. It’s crazy, I know! They build like 3 new schools each year! And it’s still crowded!!!

  73. Man. I am just sooo mad!!! Like, the cast for The Vampire Diaries completly SUCKS!!!!!! Seriously. It’s like they’re TRYING to mess up the whole damn series! They couldn’t be more WRONG!!!!!!!!!! I’m amazed. I didn’t know that it was possible to mess up the cast of any show soooooo badly. I am VERY, EXTREMALY, dissapointed. Sheesh.   74. Alex-wa: The cast of VD can’t be nearly as bad as the people they got for The Last Airbender. I saw the Tw****** movie the other day (my friend’s idea, not mine. It was the most injured movie EVER), so I finally got to see one of the actors for TLA on screen. Let me just say, HE’S NOT SOKKA!!!!!!!!!!!!! He could never be Sokka!!!!!!!!! Now I’m upset about the casting all over again! >:(
    Why does it seem like Harry Potter is the only thing that turned out right on screen? It’s not fair!

  80. Dahila-wa, um, yes, the cast is. Alow me. Bonnie, is a small, tiny, pale, probably freckled red-head. The actor is a big, tough-lookin African-American! Is the cast for your movie that bad? Probably not, I betcha. And since when was Caroline a red-head? Since NEVER. It is apperant that the people who casted the charecters never even bothered with lookin at the book!! It is AMAZING, how wrong the cast is.

    T&Z im so jealous of you right now!!! i’ve been counting down yhe days and hours for this book and i dont have the money for it!!! only in utah is everything super slow to get here. and i highly doubt scott-las coming this way.

    on the school topic, my sister goes to school in HI and they have year round. 2 week breaks in between semesters no summer vacation. times are the usual 8-215, or something like that. that just tells you how old i am, wow i feel like a looser. oh well.

Like, I used it for my Spanish class and it was all weird and wrong…. yeah.   93. Alex-wa (80): Okay, I think the casting mistakes are about equal. They completely changed the Fire Nation’s ethnicity!!!!! It’s so wrong!!! And I think it can all be blamed on M. Night Shyamalan and this group that I will not mention by name who made a big stink about the four main characters being white when they weren’t in the show. I just want the people to have some acting abilities, look at least a little like the characters, and SOUND LIKE THEM!!! If they don’t sound right the whole thing is ruined!

    I am watching the Pilot of the new series “Lie to Me” and one of the main cast practices “Radical Honesty.”

    Which I thought was awesome. Did they get the idea from you?

Also, in Pretties when Tally is like “…you at least have to try to grow your own brain, otherwise you might as well live on some reservation, worshiping a bunch of bogus gods.” I was like BINGO! Atheist. And it was mentioned earlier in the book (or series) about invisible super heroes in the sky (maybe when Tally went to the Smoke in Uglies…wait–why can I remember this and NOT math? That’s bogus.)

    I finally (finally!) read Love is Hell! That was a-freaking-mazing. Totally worth getting/renting.

  103. Ya, thanks LaLa-wa! He played Alex Rider in the movie for Stormbreaker too. Hum. Well I’m with Alex-wa. I’ve been to 3 different kinds of Churches in my life. A baptist, an evangelical, and an assembly of God church. They’re all the same pretty much, just tweaked like half a centimeter to their own practices. But it’s all the same, it’s all the word of God. And I DO believe. That’s why I don’t fear death. I mean, it’s not like I’m waiting to die, or anticipating it, waking up every morning thinking OH, I might die today can’t wait! But I’m not like some people that are so incredibly terrified of it that it stops them from living their lives. Because I know what’s going to happen, and I know that God will take care of me and things happen for a reason. I have Faith, so that’s all that matters to me. But I won’t judge people who believe otherwise, that’s just not how I am.

    But at my church (it’s actually my friend’s church and they whine about being in debt when they have like a billion flat screen t.v.s…Now I’m not good at math but..) they were like “The rapture will come when you least expect it.” So I wake up and am Like ‘Today’s the day!’ bwahahaha. So I guess I’m with Haley Hyperness, because there could be a God but there are SO MANY other explanations for everything. Aliens for one…

    I’ve met groups of people at my school who know the whole story about him and they’ve never even read any of his books.

  108. T&Z, you have not expireanced true faith and worship until you attend an Orthodox liturgy. We hold on strictly to what God has told us; we’ve never changed any rules, or done anything different from what the very first chrisian liturgy did. We are the true christian church. If one of the Apostles came from the past, he would find our Divine Liturgy almost the same as his time. We do everything 100%, not 50%, like all the other churches. We fast during Great Lent (Which is right now, of course) from all meat and dairy products, for 40 days, not counting Holy Week, the week before Great and Holy Paska (Easter). We are the true faith. We have not changed one single prayer, or song, or anything. And we even sing occapello, and use words like thy, thee, and thou (Glory to thee oh Lord, glory to thee).

I’m pretty sure if he wanted us to know, he’d have told us already.I don’t think it’s right to be nosing in his business. .

    Alex-wa, I think that may have come out wrong the way I said it…I just meant like they do things differently as in how some churches when you get baptised they dunk you fully in the water and some sprinkle it on you. And how they take communion and stuff. That’s pretty amazing that you guys do everything the same though. But I believe that as long as the church follows the Bible truly, it doesn’t matter if you change how you sing or whatever. Because that’s what’s really important.

Orthodoxy is a minority, so my mom was telling me yesterday when I was complaining how difficult it is to be an Orthodox Christian because nothing is talored for our ways, and our easter is even on a different calender than the rest of the world. Last year, it was a whole month after everyone elses easter! Good thing this year it is only a week later. Anyways, my mom told me that we will allways be a stranger in a strange land. Yeah, I understand that the bible is important. Well, see, it is a really long explination of our ways. We keep true to history, so I’d have to tell you all sorts of stuff that most other christians wouldn’t know about… it’s just complicated. Besides, I prefer not to have religious talks that much with people I don’t know very well. So, off the topic of religion, lets see… Hm… oh. Does anyone here like to draw? Or create pictures on Photoshop? Hehe, I think that’s a good new topic. I guess *Shrugs*

  112. Alex-wa: I draw, sometimes. I’m not very good, and nothing ever turns out how I want it to, except chibis. I’m pretty good at those (I think). Well, they always turn out how I picture them, so I guess that’s good. 😀

    I don’t think we have Photoshop on our computer (if we do, it’s hiding). Though I do like making shirts on Zazzle! 😀

  114. Haley~Hyperness, I’m sooo jealous! I wish I could draw hair! That’s one of the hardest things for me. All I’ve managed is the classic anime bob (sort of) that just about every Miyazaki character ends up with at the end of the movie (Howl, Sophie, that girl from Castle in the Sky).

    Alex-wa… the way you said everything kind of bugged me. It sounded kinda… disturbing.

    I am a proud believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and I follow the Bible, believed Jesus died on the Cross and rose again three days later…. and so on and so on. I try to follow his example, and I know I sin and need his forgiveness. Christians are not better people – we are forgiven people.

    Yet the way you talked about it sounded like a cult… while something should never be changed… I am sure one Christian who sings with accompaniment and sings words like “you” or whatever instead of they, thee, and thou… is no worse than a Christian who sings with thy, thee, and thou…

    If you are really gonna focus on things like that, you’ll make people feel bad who aren’t so perfectly following your rules… I understand some basic faith.

    Some said you stuff seemed right on… but then it seemed to veer off in a direction that I know steers some people away from religion.

    I am a strong Christian, and a strong, proud believer in Christ….

    Yet I fully acknowledge how corrupted the church is these days… and has been for a very long long time. It’s horridly sad.

    Tally&Zane – > I’ve been to baptist, an evangelical, and an assembly of God churches and others too. I am nondenominational… kinda like how when I am 18 I will be independent. But like all churches have in common, I believe the Bible and in Jesus Christ. I have many friends from all different denominations… including Catholics and others… and then some of my friends are atheists or agnostic or other things… my one friend is a Zoroastrian…

    One major difference between Catholics and non-Catholic Christians… is that Catholics pray to like Mary and saints, which I don’t get… God is never too busy for you… you don’t need a Saint to deliver your message… Or is there another reason or something I am missing?

  128. can i butt into this religious conversation? I do believe in God and all that stuff, and i do go to church, but my priest makes ur church like a cult! He is forcing my class to do things that other classes have never done before. Like we have to go to this day retreat all day just to get confirmed, when my sister and cousin never did. He is trying to change our views on how heaven is. He says it is a place where you have no shape or form, its just your soul. When we ask how he knows….he just says he knows lol. He gets mad if we talk about seeing our pets when we are up there, she says that animals were meant to eat and they don’t have souls. I don’t believe that. I think every living thing has souls. He is just really annoying. I’ve asked my mom to switch churches but she says no. Nobody in my confirmation class likes him and we know its wrong, but he is not a very good priest. he is short tempered and ugh!! I hate going to church on sundays or saturdays because of him. He makes it a cult and not even a fun one :[ hehe.

    anywho, congratulations on getting rid of your writers block Tally&Zane :]

  129. That sucks, Carly-wa. Majorly bogus of your priest! A priest is not supposed to do those things! Animals can’t sin, so they don’t have to be saved, but I do belive they are in heaven! God created animals, so why would He deny them? Crazy. And no one has the right to say he/she knows what heaven is like. No one knows. That is just plain wrong. Julie-wa, I didn’t mean to sound like that… well, we just say those words to make it feel like… i don’t know… just to be like that. I’m not sayin it’s bad to sing with music, there’s nothing that says you can’t, I was just saying. We belive I think that no instrument is worthy enough to praise God except the voice, something like that. Actually, Orthodoxy is often mis understood to be like a cult. We’re not a cult! I didn’t mean to sound all like that. But we do follow all of the ancient traditions. That’s what Orthodoxy stands for. It’s really complicated, Orthodoxy. But yeah. See why I prefer not to talk about religion much?

  130. Riderchild-wa and Julie-wa: According to my friend Orchid (she explains it better than me), Catholics pray to Mary and the saints to ask them to intecede on our behalf and pray for us. We do believe that God is omnipresent. 🙂

    Carly-wa: That’s terrible! How could anyone even suggest that animals don’t have souls?!?!?! All you have to do is look into a dog’s eyes and you know he/she has a soul (though I wonder about cats :lol:).

  151. Seeing the series on here, like other books in the past, I decided to read it.
    I read City of Bones…and unless you want your heart completely broken at the end…don’t read it.
    I mean, it was really good. But the twist kinda sucks for the characters. I mean, really, what are they to do now? I don’t know if I’ll keep reading the series, maybe if the twist…untwists. Because authors can do that.
    Meanwhile, I might pick up the Twilight series. I hated the first book, but maybe the others won’t be as horrible.
