Russian Behemoth Cover

So the voting on my last post seems to be overwhelmingly in favor of the Leviathan bridge as the first art reveal. Well, it turns out I don’t have a hi-res file for anything in the Manual!

HAH!

So yes, I’ve sent off to Keith, and it should be here soon. In the meantime, please enjoy the Russian cover of Behemoth:

That’s pretty bad-ass. I love the giant Sahmeran sneaking up on Alek from behind.

Okay the BRIDGE ART WILL BE HERE SOON.

Also, don’t forget that tomorrow is my thing at the Sydney Writers Festival:

  1. OH…MY…GOD… That Russian cover is all kinds of epic! I agree with Hannah-la.
I knew the bridge would win, I could sense it. I think the flΓ©chette bat was a close second, though.
I didn’t know your name was spelled differently in Russian. I thought names were spelled pretty much however the owner decided they should be spelled.

  2. Actually there are pretty solid rules about spelling foreign names. πŸ™‚ And as for Scott’s name in particular, it sounds almost the same as in English, even if it may not look like it to you. It’s just Cyrillic messing up with you πŸ™‚

Hey all, did you see new Russian covers to other Scott’s books?
These are for Midnighters 1 (in two editions) and 2: http://fantlab.ru/images/editions/big/32842

Couldn’t find the bigger resolution, sorry.

And these are nice and big Peeps and The Last Days:

  3. Okay, maybe not cowboy (What was I thinking), more like a british pirate from Pirates in the Carribean. Whatever they’re called.

  4. Why are the Russian covers so much better than ours? We should print these out and tape them over the covers of our books.

  5. quick question, Scott–who designed the Russian cover?? you? Keith? that’s totally rockin’ ! πŸ˜›

  6. Why, oh why are the foreign covers for any book I have ever seen always so much cool than the ones here?

  7. Also, has anyone else noticed that on the US LBG covers, the people who I must assume are meant to be Alek and Deryn have the wrong eye and hair colors to be either of them? I mean, really, they used a total of four different people on three covers, and all of them have brown eyes and brown hair. Did the people who picked the models even read the books enough to know what the models were supposed to look like?

  8. It’s not as cool as the Japanese cover of Leviathan, but at least he doesn’t look twelve (again).
I am in love with Scrivener…. I watch tutorials over and over…. I wish I could get it….
By the way, Rose, I totally agree with you (as an owner of all three US copies). Sigh…. Although I’m not completely fond of this Russian Alek because he doesn’t look like Alek. There were very people who actually had common sense when it came to the covers. (Meaning: Why don’t they just use an illustration from inside the book? I don’t know. Maybe because that would be entirely too logical.)

  9. *Sigh* I guess we’ll be waiting a while for some Clanker tech reveals. But the bridge will still be awesome. WILL be. No high-res, hmm?

I’ll never understand why foreign covers are always way more awesome than the U.S. covers.

  10. @16 acrually, they use the same 2 models for all three books. And you dont see Deryn’s hair so you can’t say it’s the wrong color. The photos are also in sepia so, even though the model for Alek DOES have brown hair, it could possibly be reddish brown.Though I do find it funny how Alek is tall on the Goliath cover. Him and his box. πŸ˜€

  11. I actually think the Russian covers are better than the American ones. But to me the British ones suck the most. Just what have they done to the Percy Jackson series!!!!???? -______________-

  12. Curses no art reveal! Why do US covers always suck and Russian ones always rock? Tis not fair.

  13. @19, actually, if you look at the credits for the photos, and do some basic internet research, you’ll find that thet did use different models. And, unless the model for Deryn dyed her eyebrows, her hair is brown, too.

  14. Let me verify: I love the covers for the US. As a proud owner of all three, I think they are beautiful. BUT the Russian covers do look really kick butt. And Alek is hunky on this cover. Don’t get me wrong: he wasn’t bad on the US covers…. :O

But lets dissect this a little more. The lightning in the background is a nice touch, really. The Sahmeran is really cool too. The hands. The weapons of doom on the back. It’d be totally terrifying if it were following me through the city!

  15. There are always two things that America can’t get right.
Book covers and movie posters. xD

  16. WHY DON’T WE GET COVERS LIKE THIS?!?!?!?!?!? That is wicked!

I really need to learn Russian now. Is there a Russian here who wouldn’t mind doing a mass clearance of all of his books in the stores and shipping them to us Americans just so we can have the covers?

  17. This makes me so happy… Sahmeran TOTALLY deserves to be on the cover. Yanno, ‘cuz Zaven and Alek are my favorite characters.
