Thanks to Katerate for her zombie-tastic April Fool’s Day image. It was much enjoyed by all and sundry.

Extras comes out Tuesday, October 2, 2007. And yes, you can all pre-order it right now!

PS If you haven’t finished Specials yet, you probably shouldn’t read this comment thread. Or the comments on the April 1 post. Or any comments anywhere. Ever.

  3. Shelby-wa, im not completley crazy. :] OK i wasn’t happy when zane died, i mean i cried but still! He got in the way of Tally and David who i guess are meant to be!!!!

    everyone is right. That tagline has got to chage! How BORING? Alexa xoxo- i’ve read twilight too and I know it is amazing. I didn’t like New Moon as much though…. Tell me what you think!

  5. Hmmmm… so many books suggested and now have to read them all!!!!!Lindsey-wa and Alexa xoxo, my friend has also told me to read Twilight. Well Scott i have to just read my now lost 3rd Midnighters and Peeps. Then i have to wait until October….so far away.

  8. Ah, but David could have Shay, which would make her happy and not hate Tally as much, and Tally could have Zane 🙂 it would have worked perfectly…I liked Zane better then David, though, so that may also alter my opinion…

  12. i did like zane and when he was alive i thought tally should be with him but i always felt bad for david but when zane died everything was simplified and it gave tally a chance to fall in love with david again because he was always in love with her but they brain washed her to forget him

  14. Why does everyone think David is better just because he was first? Zane rocks! He and Tally felt more real the way they helped each other be bubbly. David was too adoring-y for me.

    Plus I just like Zane.:)

  15. Why do so many books come out in the fall? I’m going to be broke ‘Fall 2007’.

    (The Sunrise Lands (Yes!), S.M. Sterling, Eclipse (Kool-aid’s ‘OH YEAH’), Stephenie Meyer, EXTRAS (Uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it ” “), guess, and others which I fail to remember at the moment.)

  16. IndigoEyes: i most definelty agree with you about Zane!!! he was in love with Tally and then he dies and Tally goes back to David. But still David is pretty cool too, but mostly just in the 1st book.

  20. IndigoEyes: I agree completely. David was ok for the first book, but then Zane seems best for the other two. Poor, poor Zane…poor Tally as well, since she liked him as much as he liked her…lol, and I’m the same; I luff Zane. HE was my favvy character before he died…and Zane died because he wanted to do cosmetic surge or whatever so that Tally would like him again 🙁 Like I said, poor Zane and Tally…

    Katie: Yeah, same here. IF i read a trilogy, or eries, or a books or whatever, I can tell if they’re leaving information out. The info that I want to know, otherwise I’m helplessly hanging…

  21. Aw thats sucks…I spent 15 minutes at the library last night TRYING to find The Last Days, which was supposedly in, and it ended up in the wrong place, which was why i couldn’t find it…oh well, i have it and can read it now…

  23. lindsey-la… well iv only read Twilight… and it was great!! im waiting for New Moon to come out in paper back… my mom has this thing about hard back cuz they cost more!!! and i hope that new moon is good cuz it would really be a let down if it wasnt… but she set the bar high with the first one!!

    and sorry scott… your books are amazing to!! i think that you should read Twilight?!

  24. Hey Scott i need to know one thing…IS ZANE COMING BACK IN THIS BOOK OR WHAT?!? You’re smart i’m sure you could it out somehow like they took him off the life support machines and Tally ran out thinking he was dead but he survived but she doesn’t know it and wooohoo there he is all loving her again.

  27. Ah, I’m so excited! As everyone else has pretty much said, I can’t wait. But, I also think it should’ve ended with Specials. Adding another drags it on, in my eyes. Yet I’m so happy you have continued. So confused, but great job Scott!

  28. katie- a tagline is the thing on the book that says stuff like “in a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly” (i think that was the tagline for uglies) and bnicki- i dont think zane is comming back, sorry. its not that i dont want him back but this book has totaly different characters in it. it takes place in a different country. and zanes dead. would you rather tally be dating some reincarnate/ zombified thing of zane? im sorry but thats just a tad disterbing to me.

  29. sorry 2 all u zane lovers, but i did like david better i mean he & tally both know how 2 b individuals & david new tally when she was still herself & tally actualy got rid of the leisons herself but zane couldn’t he had to take a pill & thisis a really long sentence

    im SOOOOO excited 4 extras 2 come out but my parents hate preordering 🙁

    btw scott, sorry but the tagline really does suck, you can do better than “the new york times bestselling series”

  31. i agree that that david was all fine and dandy in the first book and Zane was the best in the second, but since Zane died, Tally and David were just meant to be. And Zane’s brain was so messed up and he was put out of his misery. If yall don’t remember, Tally didn’t like seeing Zane “crippled”

    But like bnicki said- it would be pretty cool if Zane just came back!!! =]

  32. Tally didn’t like seeing Zane crippled because she was special! She could sort of control that by the end of the book (“Being normal didn’t seem pathetic to her now”) so I don’t think she’d mind that much any more. Especially if the surgery Zane asked for, you know, ACTUALLY WORKED. (Sorry, I’m still mad about that.)

    i can’t wait till it comes out! i was hoping there would be more after specials! YAY!

  34. the surgery for zane didnt work just because of the attack right? because didnt something go wrong and then doctors didnt no so they couldnt get to him in time?

  35. The surge didn’t work cause the brain tissue was rejected and there was no one there to get him into surgery to fix him soon enough.

  36. bring zane back would only hurt tally more. she just got to a point where people aren’t trying to change her into some major physco and bring zane back would only destabelize her.

    by the way, do they bury people there or do they do something else?

  38. well i always kind of sort of like david better!!! but thats just me… and tally and david were ment to be togeather!! dont get me wrong i still liked zane. and i wonder if tally and david are going to this other country and try to change their system to??!!

  41. im sorry but i dont like tally too much anymore. shes very shallow. she didnt like zane becuase he shook. she didnt like david because he wasnt a pretty. she seems very shallow. she was cool before but in specials and the end of pretties she was just very self centered and shallow. it was her fault zane wanted that operation. he just wanted tally to accept him again.

  42. Yeah, I know what you mean. I always manage to like the main character, and I still like Tally (not sure why) but it is her fault Zane died.
    She felt remorse and all that. But still.

  43. i love Tally!!! i mean is it her fault that she is being switched and played around with by Dr. Cable and David?? not really. and with all that going on i think Tally would feel wierd around Zane.but she still did love him.

  44. This is probably going to turn into a debate, but I don’t think Tally’s shallow. It’s not her fault Zane died, because it’s not her fault she didn’t like him because he shook. Dr.Cable messed with her head and changed it to where she was disgusted by anyone who wasn’t a Special. I know she eventually changed that, but it’s not like she could’ve just rewired overnight. & I don’t think Tally left David because he was ugly. She might have, but I just don’t think it’s like that. And look at it this way. She chose Zane, but he was pretty and pretty much brain-damaged. She stayed with him to be transformed, against her will, into a Special. So she would risk all of that, just because he was pretty? When she could have escaped and left with David?

  45. Actually, to correct everyone, it’s Shay’s fault…she brought her to the Smoke, she got her into the crims in Pretty Town, and she made Tally a special, which was why she started not liking Zane…

    And to help everyone, Zane died because he got the operation so Tally would like him again, and so he wasn’t all twitchy or whatever, but the new brain tissues were rejected by his body for some reason, and they, liked, destroyed each other, so by the time a doctor came, they couldn’t just take the brain tissues out and save him…
