The realization of Uglies technology continues!

This subcutaneous digital display uses the sugar in your blood and turns it into the electricity it needs to run. (And it’s Bluetooth compatible.) The article is a bit unclear about what stage this gadget’s at. The photo caption says the it’s being demonstrated, but the article says, “just a concept.” Well, “concept cars” are prototypes . . .

Anyway, it’s sort of like the flash tattoos in Uglies, because it monitors your bio-signs. Not your heartbeat in this case, but your blood chemistry. Seems to me that if it could control its own energy use, it would be great for diabetics.

If you read the articles for both these devices, they both mention cell phone applications. Like, dude, that is so 1997.

  10. That eyescreen is so cool! I would get on ein an instant. The tatto thing creeps me out a little though, the fact that it’s connected to a vein and an artery…

    It even has a picture of a rabbit that is wearing one. I can’t wait until things like this actually start coming out!

  17. Wow, Scott! That is very intriguing. It’s a bit scary, though, if you think about it. I have this nightmare that one day people will encase earth in this huge rocket and fly the whole planet around the universe. Oo. Weird, I know, but still pretty nervous-making.

    I told my mom if i were ever to get any kind of contact that wasn’t just the regular it would be the Extras eye one. she said “figures”. Im totally getting that when i learn to put contacts in and when they sell them.

  38. I was spray-painting in tech today and my friend was holding the car
    Somehow the spray-paint went up the sleeve of MY jacket without getting the jacket all spray-painteded
    I also tripped over my own foot and fell INSIDE of my locker
    And after that I poked myself in the eye with my FOOT (don’t ask)
    I knocked over two desks reaching for a paper
    Plus, I fell off of the piano bench trying to turn the page of my song.
    Cheese, I think I’m just uncoordinated…

    My dad snuck meat into my food
    and worse, it was beef; I hate beef

  41. My nose was bleading and I was holding a tissue on it I turned around because some one was calling my name. Well, my hand slipped and my fist went right into my eye. It was very embarassing.

  43. hello! i had like a super long long day. i was completely lost in every single class today because i was gone all of last week and today was my first day back. it was very unhappy-making. and i stayed after school for 2 extra hours to catch up on the chapter and a half i missed in math. but luckily once i see how to do one of those problems it pretty much clicks. and then my math teacher kept talking to me about how she hates our class (most people in it never do their homework and then are suprised when they find out there flunking. lol.) and then i had about 10 people come up to me and were like KAYLEE!!! I THOUGHT YOU DIED. yep. their exact words. and i was just standing there thinking were you glad or sad about this? but i didn’t ask them that. lol. and then other people were just OMG!! KAYLEE YOUR FINALLY BACK! WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU? so i explained it wayyy too many times to count. that’s pretty much my day in a nut-shell. and now i have lodes upon lodes of homework to do. seriously my book bag ways at least 30 lbs. oh and as i was going downstairs to my locker i was almost killed by about 20 sweaty soccer players running up and down stairs. and then they all started clapping for me. it was odd. my school is dangerous after 3.

  44. Wow! I would totally love those contacts! It would be way better than my regular contacts! I would also love the tattoo. I would love to be the first one to try them out, for the sake of technology, and to be famous…and to feel like someone in the uglies seiries. *sigh* Like sounds way better with those contacts.

  45. WHOA!!! I finished all my homework in school so i was able to go home and……work out!! not that im fat i just thought i would be nice to actually do something. (as most could tell im a computer freak!)

    I was working out when i got this awesome idea for my story! Have you ever done that? Let be more specific. Have you ever been doing a normal (or in my case new) activity or task when you just think of a great story plot or event?

    I do it all the time.

  47. oooooooooo whenever i need 2 think or burn off anger, i just excersize, and it works wonders!!! i mean, what kind of person can be angry or confused when their sweaty and their legs feel like jello?? seriously, it works. we have a bike and a runny-thing and a punching bag (seriously, if u want 2 work off anger, get one of those. just picture the person that ur angry with on the punching bag).

  49. my english teacher finished reading the Uglies series today, and she loved them! and now my books are back in my hands. i missed them sooooooo very much. and now my mom wants to read them.
