Bogus in French

I was recently informed that the Uglies series is a bonafide bestseller in France. That must be why I’ve been getting so many Facebook friend requests from Paris schools lately. That’s also why my books tend to come out in France almost instantly, translated straight from manuscript.

In fact, the French version of Bogus to Bubbly is already in stores. It’s called Secrets and looks like this:

I like the cropping on the French cover better, actually. And the slightly redder color scheme. It somehow seems more . . . secrety. It’s a cool title, too.

  1. I don’t quite like the cover for Bogus to Bubbly which I’m almost done reading. Well just the picture actually. And I agree I like the French one better but not as red.
    I do love the title though. I do love that you made the manual though, Tally’s world is great and it’s just like I want to learn more about it :]

  2. My recent visit to France confirms this to be 100% correct, Scott’s books are in all the bookshops in a way that very few English language writers are.

    (and if you are going there don’t miss The Red Wheelbarrow. The perfect bookshop!)

  3. Yeahh, I like both covers, but the France cover is awesome.

    Geeze, Mr. Westerfeld, your face rank is going up in France…I’ll bet you’re in the top 100…

    Also, last time at Barnes and Noble, I skimmed Bogus to Bubbly – no money on me – and it looks REALLY interesting. I like the information you put in about the characters names, most particularly.

  4. The French cover totally pwns the English one.
    That doesn’t mean that I don’t want a copy of the English one, though… 😀

    By the way, does anyone else remember that at some point in Uglies, Tally thinks about people who can never become pretty?
    Or am I just imagining it?

    Scott, I really want to know more about them! If they exist, that is…
    And why can people not become pretty after age 20?
    Tally tells Shay that before Shay goes to the Smoke.

  8. Do you really live in israel??? (and yes in uglies tally finds out that people stay ugly past sixteen by going to the smoke. The boss of the smoke died ugly when he was very old ps. he was murdered by special circumstances) They also have everyone in Diego have their own surge

  12. Hey, just wanted to say that I finished Bogus to Bubbly… it was so much fun! I went to YouTube and searched “octopus camouflage” and I had to rewind the video three or four times, it freaked me out so much. Amazing. I always learn something from your books.

  20. Sooo i finaly got the book bogus to bubbly! Am I brain-missing or what? I never even knew it was out! How bogus. I’m already done though, and it was totaly bubbly-making. Do you know what else would be bubbly-making? Writing a 5th book. 🙂
    I loveee scott westerfield, the uglies series are the best books ever. <3

    I love it so much!
    You know what? I think you should come out with another guide book, that’s like, your personal opinion. You know? Like who you think that Tally should have been with (Zane or David) and how YOU think David got the scar and stuff like that. I would so buy that
    and THANK YOU! for putting me in the detication. I almost cried. haha.

    So, I don’t speak (and Write) English very well … :/
    I just Love Uglies and all the Others. You’re my Favourite Author ^^
    All my Friends have read Uglies ‘ serie 🙂 so do some teachers

    My Mother reads it in English, and the cover is so different (?)

    But, in Belgium, there aren’t so many books of you =/ We Want More !! ^^

  30. I listened to Scott Westerfeld’s interview on the Rachel Madow program on Air America radio and was intrigued by the “Uglies” saga. I am currently halfway through “Preties”

    May I make a few suggestions for the casting of the movies???

  31. OMG !!! i live here in america but i LOVE the uglies trilogy .. the whole idea of being icy and bubbly is soo pretty-making .. ive almost learned every line dt tally says in the books !!!! I take it almost everywhere !!!! wow .. im posting on 2010 .. im late …. but if you ever make a movie , find me on facebook and tell me .. !!!! Or to audition (when i read it i act out the details that they say ) Or just to be the 1st one to see it !!!!!!!!!   32. Omg I have bogus to bubbly! I love it… But sadly, I checked it out from the library, so I have to return it when I’m done reading it 🙁
    I love the series and now all I need is Shay’s Story.
    I want the book so badly!
    I will feel kinda bogus not to read them all, lol
