With Leviathan on its way (60 days and counting!) my publisher and I thought we would give you guys a little present. So for the next month, Uglies will be available free in pdf form.

That’s right: Free book! Free Uglies! Free Tally!

Of course, this isn’t just free for you, my faithful blog readers. I mean, if you’re reading this, chances are you’ve got a copy of Uglies sitting around somewhere already. But if you have any friends, siblings, crushes, or enemies who you think might be interested in the series, why not send them over?

Cause, you know, people like free stuff.

Oh, and by the way, the first chapter of Leviathan is also included, along with an illustration you probably haven’t seen before. (That’s right, this is all a promotional scheme! Bwah-hah-hah!)

A quick technical note:
Obviously you can read a pdf on your computer, and both Sony e-Readers and Kindles take them too. If you have technical questions, feel free to ask them in this comments thread. I probably can’t help you, but hopefully somebody will.

Also: the download site asks for a US zip code, which is five numbers.

  3. Arg…I’ve been camping in the okanogan for the last week, and the internet connection is poop. I’ve been trying to download this forever and nothing…I come home and it’s done in 3 seconds!
    and the leviathan chapter was the same one that was in B2B 🙁
    but it is still kool to have Uglies on my computer.

  6. Ani-lalaland: Apparently Aussie postcodes work too. It’s just those pesky Canadian and UK ones, which have letters in them, that are a problem.

  8. i have two little brothers. one of them enjoys messing around with our family computer. some how, he’s done something and i can no longer read pdf’s. NOT HAPPY JAN.

  15. I saw the new G.I.Joe movie yesterday, and they have a few scenes where people have invisible suits on, and i just totally thought of uglies! just so you guys know.

  16. Pretty cool, Scott-sama. I already own every Uglies-related book you’ve made (and the hardcover copies of Specials and Extras – speaking of which, is there every going to be a hardcover-version of Uglies and Pretties? Because I really want them!), but I might check out the Levithan excerpt.
    Free stuff is always nice, huh? Especially when it comes from the best author evah~

  28. I love it! I’m so glad I downloaded it. My library is crap and doesn’t have any of your books. And the really cool part about it was that the day I started reading it I was the same exact number of days from my 16th birthday as Tally when the book began. How weird is that?

    P.S.-cool tid-bit thought i’d add in here tally on the cover of uglies you can see the photograghers outline in her eye so check that out if u get it

  33. This is Perfect! I’m already reading it at school but still, i don’t have the money to be able to buy the book myself but now it’s uglies for free. If i said that correctly ? But, still it’s amazing how Scott made this possible. He is a greta author very inspiring to many others. I got inspired the moment the book came out just by reading like two pages of it in the book store waiting for my bus. His art and creative ideas come together.

    He will ALWAYS have another book, but never in the series of uglies. He’s in some what way of J.K. Rowling fan, i mean J.K. wrote a magical series that was full of laughs,tears, and just inspiring breath taking sentences of life.

  42. mi fav characters in the 1st 3 books are Shay and Peris but for the last book mi fav characters are Frizz and Aya. Me and mi best friend are hook on the series we have both read the series 3 times!!!!!!! and i love the ending to EXRTAS i am glad that Tally had a happy ending even if it wasn’t with Zane
