June Art Reveal

Here is the Goliath art reveal for June, based on your voting!

I was going to wait until 300 votes had come in, but by vote number 222 one of the illustrations had achieved an unassailable lead! Here’s what I mean:

Illustration One: 125 votes
Illustration Two: 17 votes
Illustration Three: 29 votes

With 78 votes left to be counted, even if Illustration three got all of them, number one was still going to win. SO I STOPPED COUNTING, which I’m sure would be cool with the Supreme Court, who are all, like, whatever about this stuff.

Now, some of you may have noticed that it is time for Fan Art Fortnightly, but I have cleverly stomped on it with this art reveal. Why? Is it because I hate fan art?

NO. I LOVES ME SOME FAN ART. But I had foolishly promised to do a Fan Fic Fan Art Fortnightly (AKA FFFAF) and it’s been impossible to choose from among the bajillion weird and wonderful fan fics out there. So why don’t you guys help me out?

Use this comment thread to suggest to each other any awesome fan fictions you’ve found, from any of my books.

And in a week or two I’ll put up some more drawings, because that’s easier.

New Update

Leviathan just sold in Japan! So we’ll be seeing the Japanese version in a year or so. Cool, huh?

    I don’t like most fan fictions, but this is one of the three that I’ve actually enjoyed. Wonderfully written, with the perfect balance in tone (ranges from very dark and depressing to laugh-out-loud funny) and a vastly entertaining array of continuities. I can only say BRAVA to the extremely talented Ms. Julia.

    Reading this is like getting shot in the head w/ a freakin’ gun! In a good way! (mindblown, people, *mindblown*!) The characters seem really spot on and in truth it’s the only thing keeping me sane while I wait for Goliath. I mean, it’s only, what, 108 days, 2 hours, 45 minutes, and 57 seconds away?

    56……..55……..54………..53………..52………51……….and the process starts all over again………

  20. I JUST figured out why the blog said it was posted a whole day before the day it was at my house. Its because the time shown is Australian time. DUH! Also, Mr. Westerfeld, do you sometimes put up three pics to choose from and think ‘Oh, I hope no one chooses three, because its a big spoiler’ and then laugh when everyone chooses one? Not that Im complaining. One was awesome, plus the one I voted for!!!!

  38. Yes, I think releasing the first chapter would keep us all sane just a little bit longer.

  39. I’m very excited to hear that the series is now going to be in Japan. After re-reading I got to thinking about how Hayao Miyazaki would be one of the only directors I would trust to put this series to film. He also happens to love any and all sorts of flying contraptions, and he can’t resist putting them in his movies. More often than not my mind flashes to “Castle in the Sky” and “Howl’s Moving Castle” when I think of the Trilogy. I’m just throwing this out there. But Miyazaki should definitely get his hands on this series.

    i think it would be a great idea if there was a movie on Leviathan but I would hate it if they messed up. Hmmm i sound very conflicted don’t I? Fortunately the choice isn’t mine so it doesn’t matter 🙂

  43. ^ oh yeah, meant to say that since it’s going to be published in Japanese…Miyazaki (or one of his “henchmen”) might possibly read it and make a movie…based on books, movies aren’t perfect, but I say better than nothing! 🙂

    Anyway, about the fanfics…all of the ones that other people wrote that I like, (nearly all of them) have already been posted.

    There is a continuation coming…and the above one was written in a hurry to satisfy demands on the westerforum. I was ordered to write a fic with a romance theme…so I did, even though I had no experience on the subject whatsoever…I surmise mine’s a man’s version of Deryn and Alek’s love story.
    But it was great fun to write.

    Also….for fanart…all my favorites have been posted already…so here are three of mine:

    This was my first one….it has no real purpose or point…I just wanted to emulate Keith Thompson on all three of these and I started with this one.

    This one is the second I’ve ever done and is my personal favourite. I did it for my fanfic (Above) but I finished drawing Before I finished writing…so this isn’t totally accurate to the story.

    This is obviously the third one. This isn’t usually my style, as I did it for someone else’s fanfic. I only followed details from their writing. I also did this one in a bit of a hurry, and I was my first time drawing Alek…
